BARD: Braille and Audio Reading Download

BARD is available to registrants of the New York State Talking Book and Braille Library. This digital talking book machine uses a USB flash drive to record books right from your computer. The collection contains over 25,000 books and 50 magazines available for 24/7 downloading.

Bi-Folkal Kits are designed for use by professionals who work with seniors in settings such as nursing homes and senior centers. Each kit comes packed in a durable blue and yellow bag containing all of the elements for a program that will spark memories from the past though the five senses.

Large print books are printed in 16 point type for readers who can no longer see the traditional 8-10 point type print clearly. The Anderson-Lee Library has our own vast collection of titles that patrons can borrow straight from us. In addition, the CCLS Outreach Department has a wide selection of more than 6,000 popular titles in this special format, including: romances, mysteries, adventures, westerns, and Christian fiction that can be deposited to nursing homes, retirement complexes, senior centers, and member libraries. Talking Books are prepared by the Library of Congress for individuals unable to read

printed material because of a visual or physical disability.  These special books are recordings ofunabridged,popularfiction as well as non-fictionmaterials that are reproduced onto USB flash drives with cartridges. The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library of Albany, New York, will distribute these materials by mail to qualifying New York State residents. Services are available to adults, children/students, schools, and other institutions.
